BRAND STORY
Kintsugi also known as golden joinery, is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or gold. The core philosophy of Kintsugi is the concept of “wabi-sabi”, to embrace the flawed or imperfect. With such, Kintsugi – indeed translated as refurbished pottery given a new life, is a metaphor for our Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey’s style of Kaiseki.
At Kintsugi, the beauty of imperfection embodied in every ingredient and every dish is flourishing and savouring just like gold.
FOOD
Uniting the ceremony and seasonality of haute Japanese cuisine, our menu is thoughtfully inspired by the four seasons of Japan. With each and every seasonal menu change, our chefs incorporate various techniques and use only the finest ingredients at the peak of their freshness to deliver flavours where texture and harmony are paramount.
SPACE
Housed in a cozy and warm space, where you will be able to capture warm food memories while enjoying kaiseki elevated in the hands of our chefs who are inspired by the four seasons of Japan.
ABOUT THE CHEF
American-Japanese Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey started his first culinary training in the United States of America (US) in 1996. Back in Japan, he trained with Masayoshi Kazato, the official Sushi Ambassador of Japan, earning himself the World Champion Master Sushi Chef.
With his excellent foundation in Japanese cuisine stems, Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey took a detour to discover and develop a bold experimental style that renowned Chef José Andrés, protégé of the legendary Catalonian chef Ferran Adrià of elBullí cultivated.
Thereafter, he earned his first Michelin star with his own style of modernist cooking, thanks to Japanese super-chef Hide Yamamoto, who selected him to open The Molecular Bar Restaurant in Tokyo.
With Michelin background, Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey’s culinary journey took him to Kuala Lumpur, where he created Babe by Jeff Ramsey and Japas by Jeff Ramsey, offering a distinguished one-of-a-kind multi-sensory approach to modernist cuisine. A tribute to the philosophy of Kintsugi, this award winning modern Kaiseki restaurant from Bangkok aims to deliver an elevated dining experience highlighting artistic expression, while acknowledging the value of tradition to Kuala Lumpur.
